The New TV Dinner
We, as a civilization, have reached a new low.
It seems that the dreams of TV-addicts everywhere are now being answered by TiVo and Domino’s Pizza. On November 16, TiVo rolled out a new widget for TiVo S2/3/HD users. What’s it do? It allows you to order pizza from the comfort of your couch. No need to bother standing up, walking over to the phone and actually talking to a human. No no, now it’s just you & your remote control. Tape an envelope with cash to the door, and then you won’t even need to talk to the delivery guy either. Perfect for the agoraphobe!
Good grief. I love my TiVo as much as the next guy, perhaps even more. I regularly pull shows off of it, tivodecode and transcode/repackage for viewing elsewhere, or for archival. That’s almost certainly more than average, though ordering dinner via the TiVo? A bit much.
And besides, Domino’s? Yuck.
